The Living Well Information & Support Service exists to empower and support the people of Doncaster, by providing quality information and support about cancer and to enable them to make positive changes to their lives to help them

We believe that everyone can expect to be supported to be able to live to their full potential no matter at what point they are on their journey. We believe that people have a right to expect and receive a professional, quality service that responds to their individual needs.

What do we offer?

We offer information and support to the public, patients, their relatives and carers, or anyone worried about cancer. This information includes:

  • Booklets/leaflets/DVD’s
  • Emotional support
  • Face to face or telephone support
  • Referral to local services and benefits advisors
  • Information about living with cancer, e.g. work related issues, fatigue, diet
  • Cancer screening information
  • Recognising early signs and symptoms
  • Healthy life styles
  • Practical help

We offer a full assessment of your needs and concerns and a clear action plan to address them working closely with other professionals if necessary.

By working with our partners in the Health Service and Community we can ensure you receive the information and support you need when you need it.

Our Partners:

Meeting New Horizons – support people affected by cancer throughout their journey from diagnosis onwards. They can arrange home visits to offer an assessment of benefit entitlement and assist in applying for benefits. Their community team can signpost to quality assured organisations within the community that could offer appropriate help and support. All partner groups have been awarded the survivor friendly quality mark.

Cancer Buddies – Is a unique service supported by Doncaster Council and Macmillan available to all residents within the borough. The team of Cancer Buddies can offer 1 to 1 emotional support, a chance to talk to someone who has been on a similar cancer journey, support for carers and has a network of volunteers across various age groups.

Appointments can be made in the centre which is a friendly, warm and confidential environment and also at a range of venues across Doncaster.

We accept referrals from health and social care professionals and we welcome self-referrals.

We are open Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm (except bank holidays)
