Volunteer Counsellors required to work within St John’s Specialist Counselling Service

We are currently looking for qualified volunteers to join our team of Counsellors.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a specialised organisation and to develop therapeutic skills in working with individuals diagnosed with cancer or life limiting illness or the loved ones of the individual.

We require a minimum qualification of diploma level or equivalent Humanistic/Person Centred Counselling and ideally the candidates will have been qualified for over a year, however, newly qualified candidates will be considered. Some experience of working within a palliative care setting would be desirable.

We would require the successful candidate to hold a small case load of clients and manage this autonomously.

We provide in house individual supervision and the successful candidates would be expected to attend regular team meetings as well as undertaking specific mandatory & statutory training.

We would require the applicant to be committed to working with the BACP code of ethics or other reputable professional body and keep factual electronic notes using System One.
