Fine donation make £400 boost

Our hospice is £400 up after a donation from The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB).

The donation comes from one of five lodges in Doncaster, the Queen Elizabeth Lodge. The Queen Elizabeth Lodge is made up of a total of 12 people who meet weekly in Adwick. They raise funds to support local charities and their communities. Money is raised by the lodge dishing out ‘fines’ to the members, the lodges each have their own rules, such as, wearing a hat inside gets you a fine, the fine amount isn’t set, it’s just whatever the member can afford to donate at the time. The fine money then gets added to the project fund where they also raffle off items to raise money. The project fund is then used to help the community.

The RAOB was founded in 1822 and is still going today! Brian Wilson, a long standing member of RAOB said: “We do our best to be as charitable as can be, whether that’s helping our fellow lodge members, our local community or local charities. We’re proud of what we do and we’re very happy to be donating money to our local hospice this time round. “

Lindsey Richards, hospice fundraiser said: “We want to thank the members from the Queen Elizabeth Lodge, we’re very grateful for the donation, it’s such a great thing that you all come together and do.”
