We need you!

Our hospice is on the look-out for volunteers. So if you’ve some spare time and would like to volunteer – we’d love to hear from you.

We currently need volunteer drivers and volunteers to work on reception.

The volunteer drivers help day hospice patients to get to and from our hospice, which is based just off Weston Road, Balby.

Drivers bring the patients to the day hospice for 10am and come back to take them home at 3pm, occasionally drivers can be asked to bring a patient in for an appointment and wait for around an hour before the return journey, we do offer refreshments while you wait!

Drivers use their own cars but receive expenses to cover their fuel.

Volunteers who man our reception will meet and greet patients, visitors and staff. You will often be the first person someone has contact with when they come in to the hospice so you will need to be friendly and welcoming.

We also have other volunteer roles too that may be of interest, such as gardening, arts & crafts work in our day hospice or helping out in our café.
Are you interested? You can pick and choose the times and days that suit you!

Lindsey Richards, who manages the volunteers at the hospice, said: “If you’d like to come and volunteer, or if you have some questions about volunteering at St. John’s Hospice, please get in touch with me. Volunteering is really rewarding and our patients and staff really appreciate your efforts.”

For more details or to volunteer please call Lindsey on 01302 796662.
