Shoppers can find out more about the hospice

Staff from our Doncaster hospice are dropping into the town’s Frenchgate Centre next month to show shoppers the work they do!

Some of the St John’s Hospice Team from Balby will be outside Debenhams on July 17 between 9 am and 4 pm, showcasing some of the fabulous work they do with terminally ill patients.

Staff will be showing the creative arts patients take part in on the Day Hospice as well as the complementary therapies on offer such as massage and reflexology that patients can enjoy. There will also be patients’ artwork on display.

Joanne Brooks, our Hospice Sister, said: “We want to break down some of the perceptions the public have about the hospice. People have lots of fears about coming to a hospice and we want to show them that St John’s Hospice is a happy place. We work hard to give a great quality of life to the patients who use our services in both our inpatient and day care units.”

Karen Staniforth, Assistant General Manager of Frenchgate Shopping Centre, said: “We are proud to be working with the hospice in assisting them in breaking down some of the barriers of this much needed service and in raising awareness of some of the great work and therapy that the hospice offers to patients and their families.”

Shoppers are being encouraged to go and visit the staff and find out more about hospice care.
