First Bus Doncaster has boosted the funds of our Balby based hospice for the fifth year running.

Staff came together to raise money for our hospice as they have been doing for five years now, by dressing up at Halloween and buying raffle tickets, with some staff adding in extra donations to boost the funds. In an extra bid to raise some money for the hospice, visitors who used the First Bus shuttle service to see the Flying Scotsman that recently visited the city bought merch and left donations raising £342! Adding this to the £110 they raised from Halloween, the hospice received a £452 boost.

Peter Mair, Operations Manager for First Bus Doncaster said: “St Johns Hospice is a local charity we have supported for many years, and it is great to see our contribution making a difference and helping with the fantastic work they do in supporting our local communities through difficult times. I would like to thank everyone involved in coming together over these events, and it’s great to see such commitment and enthusiasm to provide such valuable support”.

Hospice Fundraiser Lindsey Richards said: “We’d like to say thank you to the staff at First Bus and their passengers who helped to raise money this year, we’re always grateful for every donation and the continued support of our local community.”

St John’s Hospice is run by Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS Trust (RDaSH). For more information on how to support St John’s Hospice, please visit: www.stjohnshospicedoncaster.co.uk
