More than 150 cyclists have helped to raise thousands of pounds for Doncaster’s Hospice Appeal.

The cyclists all took part in Sunday’s (July 5) St John’s Cycle Sportive, which covered 65 and 100 mile routes, raising around £3,000 from entry fees alone for the Balby-based hospice.

The weather held for most of the day, with the last few cyclists facing a downpour later in the afternoon.

Mel Hewitt, Hospice Community Fundraiser, said: “It was a marvellous day. I want to thank all of the cyclists who took part and helped us to raise so much money for such a worthy appeal and all of the volunteers, who without them, this event would not have been possible.”
