Teeing off raised £7,300 for hospice

Golfers in Doncaster who tee’d off for charity have raised an amazing £7,300.

Golfers who are members of Wheatley Golf Club have just completed a year-long fundraiser for our St John’s Hospice Appeal in Doncaster. The club held events and collections throughout the year.

Les Phillips, the former men’s Captain, said: “We wanted to support a local charity and my sister used to live on Weston Road. I went by the hospice quite often – and I thought why not raise money for the charity appeal as it caters for all ages and is for local people.

“What our golfers and their families have done is fantastic,” added Les. “I’m so proud of what they have achieved.”

Lindsey Richards, of our St John’s Hospice fund-raising office said: “It’s fantastic that Wheatley Golf Club members, families and friends have supported our appeal. Every penny raised will go towards making our patients and their carers lives more comfortable.”
