Massive response to teddy appeal

If you go down to our hospice today you’ll be in for a big surprise…..

For every bear that ever there was is there, thanks to big-hearted Doncaster residents.

After staff at St John’s Hospice made a plea for new teddy bears – staff were inundated.

The plea came after a box full of bears were all adopted – and more were needed for youngsters who visit loved ones in the borough’s hospice on Weston Road, Balby.

Chris Smith, Community Fundraiser for our hospice appeal, said: “Thank you to everyone who has donated new bears. We love each and every one of them…..and if there are still any spare ones out there, we’d love to have them too!

“Our Teddy Bear Appeal means that patients can give a teddy to their child or grandchild when they visit. Each bear comes with an adoption certificate and are really special because of the circumstances.”

If anyone has any bears they still want to donate, which are either new or belong to someone but have not been used, they can drop them off at the hospice between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday or give the hospice appeal team a call on 01302 798391.
