£970 boost for Doncaster’s Hospice

Health staff have donated £970 to our hospice.

The money was raised by staff from St John’s Hospice at Balby and their supporters at a recent Dragon Boat Race at the Lakeside, Doncaster.

The sponsorship money initially goes directly to the Rotary Club of Doncaster St George’s, who together with Visit Doncaster, organise the Dragon Boat Race. They then donate 70% of it back to the charity named by the participants in the race.

The remaining 30% raised plus all gift aid is kept by the Rotary Club of Doncaster St George’s for distribution to other local charities.

Chris Smith, our Hospice Community Fundraiser, said: “Our staff and supporters raised a fantastic amount from the sponsored Dragon Boat Race. Every penny raised will go towards making our patients’ lives more comfortable.”
