£3,600 boost from 25th birthday

Staff, patients, carers, volunteers and fundraisers have helped our Doncaster hospice celebrate its 25th birthday and at the same time raise £3,614.

A special garden fete was held recently with a range of fun on offer, including rides, a sandpit, face-painting and the chance to hold birds of prey for the kids, with stalls, cakes, tombolas and much more for the adults, which got the cash rolling in.

This week the final amount was revealed by St John’s Hospice staff after all of the takings, donations and collection tins were counted.

Andrew Brankin, who manages the hospice, said: “I would like to thank everyone for their support and for volunteering their time to make our 25th birthday celebration such a wonderful success.

“The weather was kind to us, making for a fun filled day that showcased the pride and dedication of all those involved in the hospice both past and present,” added Andrew. “The day also raised more than £3,600 for our St John’s Hospice Appeal – an amazing amount of money and every penny will be spent on ensuring our patients’ lives are more comfortable.”
